Voices of American Sexuality

Voices of American Sexuality represents a bold leap for both American Sexuality magazine and the National Sexuality Resource Center. We've done a heck of a lot of work to build sexuality dialogues around the country and around the world, and now (some would say finally) we've moved in to the 21st century. We at AmSex hope this forum becomes useful, interesting and fun for you and yours!

Ashera Project

The Ashera Project offers comprehensive pregnancy prevention education to at-risk Austin high school students as part of a broader multi-faceted and long-term youth development program. Ashera Project supports teens in the acquisition of the knowledge, skills, and resources that will help them become and continue to be healthy, productive, and active community members. Ashera Project's activities (e.g., group work, experiential learning) and curricular content have been shown to be effective in reducing pregnancy rates and sexual risk behaviors among high-risk teens. Ashera Project's four years of programming include activities intended to:

  • create and support a peer group environment with positive norms for pregnancy prevention attitudes and behaviors;
  • increase self-efficacy to avoid pregnancy;
  • foster greater connectedness to participants' school and community; and
  • initiate long-term planning toward success in school and in life.
